- Width: 148 cm. (58")
Length: 430 cm. (169")
Condition: Good
Good condition. Only light wear consistent with age and history but has no structural issues. Some minor scuffs and pin sized holes towards the sides. The rest of the piece is in excellent antique condition. An area with pale rust marks towards the bottom half. A charming patched mending and two darned mendings. The patch has some pale fading around it. Very special and very large! It will be a pleasure to work with this textile.
- Beautiful French vintage gray ticking fabric with white stripes. It is a dense French herringbone fabric called “Coutil” or “Toile à Matelas” from the first half of the 1900s. This piece was part of a mattress cover, we have recovered it for you. It is a medium weight cotton fabric. The herringbone weave reinforces visual linearity.
ROSARIO SAYS: “These beige or gray and white tones, the spikelet and this type of stripes are very characteristic of French mattresses.
