  • Description
  • How To Shop
  • Very rare vintage sky blue and white fabric with a Japanese scene motif. This is a European damask fabric from around 1950. This piece, reclaimed and freshly laundered, was part of a mattress cover. This fabric is cotton medium weight. The designs are reminiscent of the drawings and patterns of French fabrics such as Toile de Jouy and Indianas due to the arrangement of the pieces. The motifs are inspired by Japanese designs that greatly influenced Art Nouveau and chinoiserie that was so popular throughout the 18th, 19th and 20th centuries.
