  • Extraordinary and old Finnish mattress fabric (“patjakangas”) made of cotton and a rustic linen (linen tow). This fabric is a handloom twill weave. With stripes of different shades of indigo, and red. The cover is double-sided. It can be used as is or it could be opened for projects. ROSARIO SAYS: “These fabrics are from the late 1800s - early 1900s. As seen in the Collection of the Seurasaari Open Air Museum (Finland). I think they are elegant pieces because of the simplicity of the colors and the softness they have achieved from the linen. A wonderful treasure!” The term "tow" refers to the shorter flax fibers left over from the spinning process. Threads and fabrics made from tow fibers are usually thicker and more rustic in nature.
