Lovely cobalt blue and cream striped vintage ticking fabric with some thin white stripes. It is a European twill fabric called cutí (from the French “coutil”) from around 1940. This piece, recovered and freshly washed, was part of a mattress cover. It is a light to medium weight cotton fabric. It has a delicious combination of colors. The spikelet has been used not only as a type of fabric but to reinforce the visual texture.
