    Condition: Distressed
    Distressed. Worn condition with some scuffs and a chickpea-like tear down the middle of the piece and an L-shaped cut on one side. The colour has remained vivid with an age patina. Eyelets somewhat deteriorated with back patch. One selvedge.

  • Wonderful vintage beige ticking fabric with red and white stripes. It is a European spikelet fabric called cutí (or in French “coutil”) from the early 1900s. This piece, recovered and freshly washed, was part of a mattress cover. It is a light to medium weight cotton fabric. The herringbone weave reinforces visual linearity.

    ROSARIO SAYS: “This fabric still has a lot to “live.” The years give it a beautiful patina of old age.”
