Wonderful vintage red and cream striped mattress fabric (ticking). The years have given it a wonderful old patina. It is a strong European fabric made around 1950 from satin weave (sateen). In the past these resistant fabrics for mattress covers were called "cutís" (from the French "coutil") It is made of medium weight cotton. Dense textile perfect for upholstery and interior design projects.
