Length: 135 cm. (53")
Condition: Distressed
Distressed. Moderate wear consistent with age and history. Color unevenly faded with time. Moderate scuffing towards the side seams. A significant tear towards the side seams. Authentic hand sewn eyelets. One intact selvage. Despite all imperfections it is a unique fabric. Maybe not for everyone. Incredibly beautiful and rare!
- Very rare vintage mattress fabric in light blue and white with an oriental atmosphere motif. It is a European damask fabric from around 1950. This piece, recovered and freshly washed, was part of a mattress cover. This fabric is medium weight cotton. Perfect textile for decoration projects, cushions, bags, etc. The designs recall the drawings and patterns of French fabrics such as Toile de Jouy and Indianas due to the arrangement of the pieces. In this canvas, the motifs are very original: horsemen in battle, dancers, camel riders, ... Arab architecture and palm trees frame the scenes.
ROSARIO SAYS: “Some cushions would turn out wonderful - we wouldn't get tired of looking at them! This fabric is a true sample of jacquard stitches marking the different textures of the lattices of the palaces.
